Students from the Offshore and Subsea Production Research Laboratory (OPART Laboratory) under the Department of Ocean Engineering, Hasanuddin University, conducted a community service activity with the theme “Visitor Safety Education in Coastal Tourism Areas” at Pantai Anging Mammiri on May 23, 2026.
This activity was carried out as part of the implementation of academic knowledge and community engagement initiatives aimed at improving public awareness regarding safety practices in coastal tourism areas. Through educational outreach and direct interaction with visitors and local communities, the program sought to enhance understanding of safety measures in coastal environments.
The educational activities covered several important topics related to coastal safety, including identifying potential hazards in beach areas, understanding safe behavior in coastal environments, increasing awareness of emergency situations, and promoting responsible actions to maintain both personal and environmental safety.
As a research laboratory under the Department of Ocean Engineering, Hasanuddin University, OPART Laboratory is committed to strengthening the integration of research, education, and community service. The laboratory continuously supports the application of engineering knowledge and innovation in addressing real-world maritime challenges while contributing to sustainable coastal and ocean development.
This activity also represents the integration of academic learning and practical community engagement in applying engineering perspectives to improve public awareness and promote safer coastal environments.
